About us & a brief History. . .

We are an archery club located in Tooele County, Utah. Our club is made up of all levels of archers using all types of equipment. Men, women, and children using everything from recurve bows to the most recent and advanced compound bows. All are welcome.

Our main focus is in 3D archery. We shoot Rinehart and McKenzie targets and pride ourselves in maintaining the best in the state.  With support from Tooele County we shoot at the Deseret Peak Complex located at 2930 West, Highway 112 between Tooele and Grantsville. The large indoor arena is host to our winter league, which is capable of accommodating up to 80 shooters at once shooting at 20 targets of varying distances. For our summer league the outdoor range is one of the best with plenty of room for many archers to shoot safely. We welcome people from anywhere to come join our leagues or just shoot for fun or practice.

History of the Stansbury Oquirrh Bowmen

The Stansbury Oquirrh Bowmen (S.T.O.B.) was established in 1984. The club was started by some long-standing archers in Tooele county that were involved with the Tooele Valley Archers and the Stansbury Bowmen of the early 60s till the mid-70s. These archers, namely Jay and Saranell Walk, Roger Warr, and Fred Shields thought it was time to get another archery club going after a long hiatus. In May 1984, the S.T.O.B. held their first organized meeting downstairs in the old Tooele City library. They chose the name, elected officers, and started shooting.

The first venue was an empty field off of Seventh Street in Tooele. Then after a purchase of some cardboard style targets from the recently closed Rocky Mountain Archery in Sandy, shooting began indoors at the Roller Skating rink on 7th Street in Tooele. For a couple of years, the club also leased and maintained an outdoor field course right below the Settlement Canyon Dam.

In 1989, the club moved indoor shooting to the Dow James building on 4th south in Tooele. S.T.O.B. held many invitational tournaments and state tournaments in this building, along with a very successful “Bowhunters Clinic” in July 1997, drawing over 350 people.

In 2000, the club moved its shooting to Tooele County’s Deseret Peak Complex, shooting 3D inside the indoor arena during the winter months and outdoors using the “Archery Park” in the summer. Initially the club and Tooele County built a 28 target Field course at the Archery Park, but after a few years it was swallowed up by the Miller Motorsports Park.

Now, we shoot a Winter League every Thursday night @ 7pm inside the Deseret Peak Complex in between Tooele and Grantsville November - March and we have Summer Shooting also on Thursday nights during the summer @ 7pm in our outdoor range. All ages are welcome and all styles. We host our Annual 3D Shoot every January, inside the same building. The only year we did not host our shoot was in 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Any questions feel free to contact anyone listed on our contact page or send us a message via Facebook and we will get to you ASAP.
